I‘m a liberal leaning outdoorsman attempting to open the minds of right wingers to the idea that libs fish too. Anglers come from all walks of life, left, right, and center. Not everyone who fishes for bass is a redneck fond of Nascar, country music, and religiosity. Expect posts about largemouth bass fishing, techniques, reviews of lures and other products, but not any condemnable conservative rants. I hope to inspire the online angler community to dial down rhetoric which will do more harm than good to our sport.

Getting Around:

If you are looking for something in particular, use the Labels below, the Blog Archive, or the search box at the top to find what you need. When using the search box, simple search terms will get the best results. One word is often better than three. Searching for "Pflueger" will give you more results than "Pflueger baitcasting reel." Use these three features to your advantage.

Labels are relevant tags or keywords. Click on a label to view other related posts organized by date. For example, clicking on the label spinnerbaits will take you to all the other posts with the tag spinnerbaits and the label largemouth bass denotes any fishing report where I caught a bass. Labels are listed below, first by frequency and then in alphabetical order. Labels are also tagged below each individual post. When viewing by Label, 20 results are listed per page. Click "Older Posts" to see more posts with that Label. In addition, some entries may also have a list of related posts at the bottom you might also find useful.

Anyone can comment, so go ahead and post. I'd like to hear what you think. There is a "Post a Comment" link below every single entry. Comments are still moderated for approval. Anything inappropriate will be rejected. This also helps cut down on spam.

Thanks for stopping by!

• In Negotiations With The Bait Monkey

Right now I'm in negotiations with the bait monkey. I have a $15 gift card for Academy. I'll likely spend a little more than that, but not much more. I am thinking of buying one of those Plano spool boxes. My only concern is that the line will come off the spool too easy inside the box. It's a novel idea, but I am not sure how well it works in real situations. They aren't all that expensive and I could still use something to keep line spools in. That's about five or six bucks off the card.

The reason the person bought the card for me was so that I could use it on a few Terminator T1 spinnerbaits. I'll get one or two. There's about five or ten bucks. Now I get into the real nitty gritty of negotiating. I know there are some things I need. I know a couple things I want to try. Whether or not I can justify the purchase is where I'm at in the sequence of events.

I know I need more Zoom toads. I only have one or two left. No, not packs, individual toads. I could go ahead and buy a couple packs or I could wait until later in the year when topwater is in. I don't know where I'll be this summer. I'm also very interested in Berkley Gulp. I've read lots of good things and I'm aware of how the material can deteriorate. I don't know which one I want to buy. I plan on using what I get on a shaky head. Gulp has a shaky worm, but I also like using shad type baits on a shaky head. I don't even know if this Academy carries what I want to begin with. I know I've seen Gulp packages on the racks, but I don't know which ones they have. I might buy one pack of one type and stop there or buy two packs of different baits. I'll give them a trial run and go from there. I'd also like to either buy some weighted slider hooks or just some worm weights. I'm not sure which one I'd be more comfortable using. One visitor to my blog has recommended the hooks before.
